Facebook Review: Still Worth Using in 2025?

Review by Norris Sensei

1. First Impressions

Facebook remains the largest social network in the world, with billions of active users. While it has lost some of its original appeal among younger users, it continues to serve as the primary way many people stay connected with family, follow local news, join community groups, buy and sell items on Marketplace, and find local events. For users in their thirties and older, Facebook is often still the social network where most of their connections are active.

The app has become busier over the years with more features, more ads, and more content recommendations. It can feel cluttered compared to simpler apps, but the core functions, seeing updates from people you know, are still easy to find.

2. What Facebook Does Well

Staying connected with a wide network. Facebook’s biggest strength is its scale. If you have friends, family, or colleagues spread across different places, Facebook is often the one platform where you can find all of them.

Groups and communities. Facebook Groups are genuinely one of the best tools for connecting around shared interests, local communities, or professional networks. Groups remain one of Facebook’s strongest features.

Facebook Marketplace. Marketplace has become one of the most popular ways to buy and sell secondhand goods locally. It is easy to use and widely adopted in most cities.

Events. Organizing and discovering local events through Facebook is still very effective. Event invitations and RSVPs work well, and the integration with friends makes it easy to see who is attending.

3. Where Facebook Could Be Better

Heavy on ads and recommended content. The News Feed is now filled with a mix of posts from friends, ads, and algorithmically recommended content from pages and groups you did not choose. The ratio of actual friend content to other content has shifted significantly.

Privacy concerns persist. Meta has faced ongoing scrutiny over how it collects and uses personal data. Users who are privacy-conscious may find the level of data collection uncomfortable.

Younger audiences have moved on. Many people under 30 rarely use Facebook, which means it is less useful for connecting with younger friends or family members who are more active on Instagram, TikTok, or Snapchat.

Final Word:

Facebook is still a useful platform for staying connected with a broad network, participating in community groups, and using Marketplace. It has become cluttered and ad-heavy over the years, but for many users it remains the only place where their full social network is active. Whether it is worth using depends heavily on who you are trying to stay in touch with.

AppNorris Verdict: Recommended for adults who want to stay connected with family, local communities, and secondhand shopping.

Great for keeping everything in one place, friends, memories, events, and updates. I like how easy it is to scroll through my feed when I have a few minutes to spare.

The app works well and loads quickly. I mostly use it for groups and marketplace, which have both been super helpful. Sometimes the notifications feel overwhelming, but you can adjust them pretty easily.
