Spotify is the world’s largest music streaming platform, with over 100 million tracks, millions of podcasts, and audiobooks all in one place. Whether you want to play your favorite album, discover new artists through a personalized playlist, or listen to a podcast on your commute, Spotify covers all of it in a polished and easy-to-use app.

Opening Spotify feels immediately inviting. Your recently played music and personalized recommendations are right on the home screen. For music lovers, it is one of those apps that genuinely gets better the more you use it as it learns your taste over time.

2. What Spotify Does Well

Massive music library. Spotify has one of the largest music catalogues of any streaming service, covering virtually every genre, artist, and era. Finding almost any song you can think of is usually possible.

Excellent music discovery. Features like Discover Weekly, Daily Mixes, and Release Radar are remarkably good at recommending music you will actually enjoy. The algorithm learns from what you listen to and constantly improves its suggestions.

Seamless cross-device experience. Spotify works on phones, computers, smart TVs, game consoles, and smart speakers, and lets you switch playback between devices effortlessly. Start listening on your phone and hand it off to your speaker with one tap.

Podcasts and audiobooks in one place. Having podcasts and increasingly audiobooks in the same app as your music is genuinely convenient. You do not need to switch apps when you want to listen to something different.

Collaborative playlists. You can create playlists and invite friends to add songs, which is a great feature for road trips, parties, or shared workplaces.

3. Where Spotify Could Be Better

Free tier has significant limitations. The free version of Spotify comes with ads, shuffle-only listening on mobile, and limited skips. The experience is noticeably inferior to the paid version, which can feel like a strong push to subscribe.

Audio quality cap on standard plan. While Spotify’s audio quality is good, audiophiles will note that it does not yet offer lossless or hi-res audio at all tiers, unlike some competitors.

Artist payment controversies. Spotify has faced ongoing criticism for paying artists relatively low royalty rates per stream. For users who care about supporting artists fairly, this is worth knowing.
